This My Little Pony effort is, granted, an older story and therefore does not have the monitors that have been put into place in the last decade or so. I can forgive the scariness of the movie even though it frightened my 2 year old with all the flooding purple goo, horrible creatures, and witches that eat bugs. But even the language is a little sharp. The bad characters tell each other to shut up and call each other stupid, which I'm not a huge fan of for little kids ears. I would say it's for an older audience but My Little Pony is clearly for the 2-5 maybe 6 market on the video watch. I would pass this one by for a different My Little Pony series or movie such as "Twinkle Wish Adventure" or "A Very Minty Christmas".

This is my first review ever,but after seeing 'My little pony'and noticing my daughters reaction I have to.I was very surprised after all the positive reviews to actually see this movie!!My daughter(3,5) repeats all the name calling,and that happens a lot in this movie.For a little girl's story I expect more positiveness and gentleness.The 'My little pony'concept gives so many possibilities,what a shame they came up with this story!Unfortunately my daughter loves it and I have to get it from it's hiding place...

I remember thinking this movie was fantastic when I was a child and my five year old daughter is now loving it just as much as I did. However, I do not have any memory of the ponies' voices being so high-pitched, screechy and fingernails-down-a-blackboard annoyingly hideous! Whilst I was delighted to see it again for the sake of nostalgia, I now have to leave the room when my daughter puts it on for the twentieth time...

This is a classic cartoon from the eighties and I bought it for my kids having enjoyed it as a child myself. I must admit to being a little bit disappointed with the quality of the DVD itself. The movie is great just as I remembered, catchy songs, great voices and likeable characters but they have not 'cleaned' up the DVD. It's worse than on a VHS copy and really bad sound. There are absolutely no extras apart from 'Play' and 'Scene Selection' which is a shame. But at the price it's worth it. The kids have been watching it over and over.
