Amazon.co.uk Review
Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. --Tami Horiuchi, Amazon.com

5 out of 5 stars PIXAR'S BEST WORK.   May 1, 2010
Richard I. Stone (Farnham, England)
It's a shame that the traliers for WALL-E didn't really do it any favour's before it's release, and even worse is the fact that some people will probably never see it because of it, but that is it's only fawl.

As with film's like 2001 back in the day, and Avatar in the now WALL-E breaks boundaries and restrictions in it's field. Coming before the mahem of 3-D, influencing film's in ways that will change cinema forever, it leaves a distinct mark on the animation and film in general. Up had roaring sucess, and it is good but it's not a patch on WALL-E. Plot, Sound, Detail and Vision surpass anything pixar have done or will probably do. Enjoy WALL-E.

5 out of 5 stars From the bad reviews I knew we'd love this   April 28, 2010

We were out with our bunch at a village fete and met a grandma and mum with 3 children who'd been to seen Wall-E at the pictures. "It's very over-rated. We were shocked. It's so boring. You won't believe it". Well, from the behaviour of the Grandma and mum and the 3 children we could clearly see we had different lifestyles and would enjoy radically different things. Our children only have PC games but these are not a big part of their life either. My lot are great communicators and can appreciate deeper things and sit still and work a bit for their entertainment. So, we chanced seeing Wall-E despite the slating review of that family and at the end of it our 4 children (12 -5 years) all gave a satified sigh and said they LOVED it and could we get the movie to keep!

If you want fast action and can't sit through subtle human interest stuff and prefer humour overt and slapstick you won't like this one bit. But if you like films with moral messages and sentimentality you will enjoy this as much as any emotionally astute child.

Amazing film.

5 out of 5 stars WALL-E   April 17, 2010

I have always loved the movie, with it environmental message, so bought the blue ray disc to see if there was any improvement on dvd, answer YES. Everything on the BD is upscaled so much more, picture and especially the sound played through a top class surround system is brilliant and draws you even more into the story, there maybe other movies on the market that try and get the message across about what we might do to our planet but none does it better than this little gem of a movie. My conclusion, if you where looking for a reason to buy a blue ray player then this is one reason to do so.
